The 2018 Farm Bill made all hemp-derived cannabinoids, isomers, and other derivatives completely legal in the United States with a caveat: all products must contain .3% THC or less. Specifically, products can have a maximum of .3% Delta 9 THC, as Delta 9 is a more psychoactive compound.

Although it sounds incredibly similar to its cannabinoid cousin, delta-9-THC (the cannabinoid responsible for cannabis’ psychotropic effects), delta-8 has significant differences that may be an advantage. Most significantly, it can be synthesized from CBD that is derived from industrial hemp, a species of the cannabis plant that is now classified as legal in the U.S.
Unlike Delta-9-THC, the psychoactive component in cannabis, delta-8 is not genetically produced via enzyme synthesis in the cannabis plant, Instead, it is produced as THC degrades, similarly to some other minor cannabinoids, like CBN.
There are a few differences and many similarities between the two tetrahydrocannabinols. First, most sources suggest that Delta-8 is only about half as potent as traditional THC, and that it doesn’t frequently lead to the same negative side effects, like paranoia and anxiety.
Many people rationalize that delta-8-THC may offer some very similar benefits to delta-9, but with fewer drawbacks. Delta-8 is also much more shelf-stable than Delta-9, which often makes it easier and more cost-effective to market.
Delta-8-THC's psychotropic effects are a touchy subject. Some sources say that Delta-8’s effects are not nearly as intoxicating as traditional THC doses, rather they are neutrally “euphoric” or “uplifting.”

That means a portion of the active ingredients may be absorbed through the sublingual glands and the rest is digested. Some sources suggest that the effects of edibles last longer when absorbed via the slow digestive process, like when you take Delta-8-THC gummies.

Edibles are known for having longer onset times when compared to inhalation methods, but some new edible dosing styles mak kick in faster than you're used to.
Some edibles, like infused cookies or cakes, need to be swallowed and processed by digestion. For this reason, it can take up to two hours to feel the effects.
Alternately, some edibles are designed to dissolve in the mouth so that they can be absorbed by the mucous membranes under the tongue. These edibles may take effect more quickly, in an hour or less.
A Delta-8-THC vaporizer will take effect almost instantly and usually peaks about 15 minutes after dosing.
The effects from Delta-8 have different durations depending on the dosing method used. For instance, when Delta-8 edibles are processed by digestion, like with delta-8 gummies, the effects fade away more slowly. In general, the effects from Delta-8-THC edibles can last anywhere from 4-8 hours depending on dose, tolerance, and other biological factors.
Vaporizers and other inhaled doses wear off more quickly, usually in about two hours.
Federal law suggests that Delta-8-THC that is naturally derived from industrial hemp which contains less than 0.3% Delta-9-THC is legal. Delta-8 exists as an isomer of CBD, which makes it legal according to the 2018 Farm Bill’s definition for “hemp.”
In other words, brands may manufacture and sell delta-8 products made from legal hemp, but you should still be careful to check your local regulations regarding cannabinoid products.

We only source hemp that is grown right here in the USA. The material used to make every Vida Optima product is USDA Certified, cGMP compliant hemp grown in Kentucky, Colorado, or Oregon.
After harvest, our high-quality hemp material is sent to our partner cGMP certified manufacturing facility located in California. We use a mixture of flower, whole plant, and biomass material for manufacturing depending on the product and formula.
Before manufacturing can start, our raw hemp material is tested for potency, cannabinoid and terpene profile, and potential contaminants. These initial tests rule out any pesticides, heavy metals, mold, or other contaminants that could make their way into the hemp crop.
